Four Legged Friends Visit Blackbrook House

8th September 2016

The elderly residents of Blackbrook House Residential Care Home in Fareham have recently had a couple of visits from some friendly dogs. Many of our residents enjoy the company of animals and were delighted to meet some new furry friends.

One of the visits was from Noah, a Cocker Spaniel puppy, who is training to be a hearing dog. Socialising with our residents is great experience for him (as part of his training) as well as for the elderly residents who really enjoyed his visit.

We were also pleased to have another doggy visit from a sheepdog named Monty who was brought in for a visit by one of our carers.

It has been proven that animal visits to care homes can benefit the self esteem, verbalisation and interpersonal relationships of residents. I'm sure both the residents and dogs got a lot of enjoyment from the visits to Blackbrook House.
