What might a typical day be like at Blackbrook House Residential Care Home? Well, we like to make sure our elderly folk are warm, comfortable and are doing all the things they would like to do, just as they would have done at home, so with that in mind we offer a relaxed lifestyle with good food and plenty of opportunities for a change of scene.
After getting up our residents can choose whether to eat their breakfast in their room or downstairs in the dining room. They might like a cooked breakfast or just something light. We have a wide choice.
Morning coffee can be taken in one of our beautifully appointed lounges overlooking the garden, over a chat with other residents or quietly in their own room.
At noon our chef prepares a 3 course dinner. This includes a starter, main course and pudding. There is a varied menu and our residents choose what they would personally like to eat each day.
In the afternoon, it's obviously time for tea! On sunny days it is lovely to have this on the lawn, after a walk in the grounds. Otherwise there are plenty of areas in and around our home to enjoy a good cuppa, including residents taking it quietly in their own room or with their guests. It may be that tea is taken alongside one of our indoor activities or out in the local area during an afternoon trip.
High tea is at 5pm. Chef prepares a wide range of sandwiches and homemade cake. Again residents can choose where to take tea, whether this is formally at the table, whilst relaxing in the music room or simply reading the paper in the lounge in front of the news.
