Our chef has been hard at work planning the food over the festive period, and we think it's looking just fabulous.
On Christmas Day residents can choose from a starter of creamy exotic mushroom soup served with crusty bread; smoked salmon, cream cheeseand dill blinis served with rocket salad; or cheese tart topped with onion marmalade and wilted rocket leaves. For mains there's a choice of pork, turkey, gammon or all three if residents wish, or alternatively there's salmon parcel or chestnut loaf with mushroom sauce. All main course meals are served, of course, with traditional seasonal vegetables. For anyone that still has room then there's traditional Christmas pudding served with brandy butter and cream, a trio of ice cream served with a brandy snap, or a white chocolate cheesecake with raspberry sauce. Sounds delicious. Residents can also choose from white, red and rose wine to be served with their lunch.
Once all the excitement of the big day is over there's still Boxing Day to look forward to, not to mention another festive meal. For starters there's a choice of tomato soup or pears and stilton on a bed of lettuce served with balsamic vinegar and crushed walnuts. The main course choice is between a cold meat selection served with chips and an assortment of pickles or homemade turkey curry served with basmati rice, onion bhaji and mango chutney.
To finish off there's strawberry gateaux or a chocolate cherry sundae served with fresh cream, chocolate flake and wafer. Once again the meals are served with a choice of wine or sherry.
As we look ahead to welcoming the New Year the kitchen staff are already preparing for the following. To begin with a starter of prawn and crab cocktail served with baby gem lettuce, or a deluxe pate on toasted triangles. For the main course there's roast beef and Yorkshire pudding, or, if preferred, a cheese and potato pie. Both of these are served with roasted and seasonal vegetales. Dessert offers a Black Forest gateaux or a selection of cheese and biscuits. A choice of wine or sherry is again served with lunch.
